In the end, I think resonance is the only word that explains what did—or didn’t—happen in the bowels of S38. Selfish or selfless; naive or wise; terrorist or martyr: whatever one says of Nora Angavu, she was a woman of powerful personality. We know how strongly that personality resonated in Joshua Goldman; we suspect, without knowing, that it may have resonated in Madeleine Lapinski.

Or perhaps it wasn’t Angavu at all. Perhaps it had more to do with the religion she espoused—the idea of keeping wild things wild that so resonates with some people, and so infuriates others.

Fury is a kind of resonance, too.

In the end, we are left with two facts: Nora Angavu is dead, and in the coldness of space, a rubble-pile asteroid vibrates in resonance with her passage. I intend neither to lionize the woman nor to vilify her. Her passage, and the resonance it left behind, speak for themselves.

Perhaps it is up to you to decide.
